Sometimes it is helpful to have a tripod for mini digital cameras. Yes, their portability is a big plus, but suppose you wanted to take a group picture using the timer so you could run and get in the picture too? It can be made taller by extending the center column.  It will go up to 8.46 inches (245 mm) and when closed, the column is then 6.71 inches high (200 mm).
